Union Home Minister Amit Shah released the BJP’s manifesto in poll-bound Jharkhand today. He arrived in the state capital Ranchi on Saturday night.
In the BJP’s “sankalp patra” for the Jharkhand elections, the party outlined 25 resolutions to mark 25 years of the state’s formation. Among these, the “Gogo Didi” scheme promises Rs 2,100 per month to women.
Launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Shah said that women and tribals are not safe under the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government. At the release of the Jharkhand Sankalp Patra, Home Minister Amit Shah launched a strong critique of the Hemant Soren-led state government, accusing it of failing to protect the state’s identity.
Shah argued that the administration had fallen short on key issues, saying, “The present government has failed to safeguard Jharkhand’s ashmita (pride) — its bread, daughters, and land.”
He urged voters to consider what kind of leadership they want for the state’s future.
“Under Hemant Soren’s government, Jharkhand’s tribal communities face growing insecurity, especially in Santhal Pargana, where their population has reportedly declined. BJP leaders claim that “infiltrators” are arriving, marrying local women, and taking over land. They warn that if these issues are not addressed, neither the cultural heritage, land, nor the safety of Jharkhand’s daughters will be protected. To counter these concerns, the BJP is advancing its campaign with the slogan “Roti, Beti, Maati,” pledging to secure livelihood, family, and land,” Shah said.
Amit Shah highlighted the BJP’s role in creating Jharkhand, crediting former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for the state’s formation and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for advancing its development.
He argued that five years ago, Hemant Soren’s government took over and halted progress on the initiatives started by PM Modi’s administration. “Jharkhand was created by our former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji,” Shah said, adding, “the work of developing Jharkhand was done by our leader and the Prime Minister of the country Shri Narendra Modi ji.”
He claimed that under Soren’s leadership, development schemes tied to the “double engine government” approach stopped.
Taking a veiled dig at Congress over poll promises, Home Minister Shah said, “Whenever I talk about ‘Sankalp Patra’, we find that the BJP is different from all other political parties. The BJP is the only political party in the country which does what it says. Whenever BJP came to power (either at the Centre or in the states), we’ve always fulfilled our promises.”
Elections to the 81-member Assembly in the state will take place in two phases on November 13 and 20, and votes will be counted on November 23.
The BJP has also pledged to provide 21 lakh families with their own concrete homes, with tap water connections.
To support youth in their careers, the BJP in its manifesto promises to provide a monthly stipend of Rs 2000 for two years.
In order to combat unemployment, the BJP promised to create 287,000 government jobs and offer 500,000 self-employment opportunities.
Under the Laxmi Johar Yojana, gas cylinders will be provided at Rs 500, with two free cylinders available each year.
To restore and promote tribal culture, the Sidho-Kanho research centre will be established.
The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission’s Combined Graduate Level examination will be cancelled, and the CBI will investigate the previous CGL exam as well as all major paper leak cases.
A Rehabilitation Commission will be established in Jharkhand to ensure that rehabilitation occurs before any displacement.
Once the BJP government is formed, strict laws will be enacted to prevent intrusion and reclaim occupied lands.
